Rapid Action Battalion arrested a member of a fraud gang, who was cheating people in the name of providing jobs in National Security Agency (NSI), from the city's Khilgaon area on Friday. According RAB officials, the arrestee, identified as Md Golbar Hossain, 28, has earned huge amount of money from several job-seekers across the country.

The RAB officials said the elite force started investigating into the allegation after getting a complaint from Farzana Akter Asha, daughter of Md Jahangir Alam, hailing Kushtia district. The victim alleged that one Golbar Hossain alias Srabon told her that he had close connections with different government officials and that his wife and brother-in-law and many others obtained government jobs through him.

To convince the victim the fraud even told the victim to talk to his wife and brother-in-law to be confirmed. When the victim talked to them, they also reaffirmed Golbar’s claim of availing government jobs giving him Tk 2, 50,000 each. At one stage, Asha fell in their trap and gave Golbar Tk 1, 50,000 to get a job as a NSI field officer.

Few days later, Asha received an appointment letter by post. When Asha informed Golbar that she got the appointment letter, Golbar opened an email account from the phone set of the victim. He told her that all communications would be maintained through the email. Golbar used to send some instructions from a fake email id of NSI. He also deposited Tk 28,000 as two months’ salary to the bank account of the victim as part of his deep-rooted conspiracy to cheat more money from Asha in the name of making her so-called job permanent.

But, day by day, Asha became suspicious of the job considering the kind of the job and style of payment. She shared the issues with her close relatives. They informed that she was actually cheated by Golbar. Later she lodged a complaint to the RAB. Eventually, Golbar was arrested from the capital.
