Man to die for killing wife in Rajshahi

A Rajshahi court on Thursday convicted a man and sentenced him to death and fined Tk 50,000 on charge of slaughtering his wife to death in the city three years back.

Metropolitan Session Judge AHM Iliash Hossain pronounced the verdict in his presence of the convict.

The convict is Aynal Haque, 30, son of Ekramul Haque of Baya Kholabari village under Shahmukhdum Police Station in the city.

Public Prosecutor Abdus Salam told the journalists that the accused had slaughtered his wife Bulbuli Khatun, 25, to death in broad day light on April 16, 2016. Police arrested him from the spot on the same day.

Joynal Ali, father of the victim, had lodged a case with the police station and police after completing investigation pressed charge accusing the man.

Public Prosecutor of the case Abdus Salam expressed his satisfaction with the judgement.

Sheheda Begum, mother of Ainal, claimed that her son was mentally imbalanced. He used to work as a day labourer but due to being mentally imbalanced, he could not manage work regularly. He used to chatter himself all the time at his room. She said, she would appeal in higher court for reconsidering punishment of his son.
