A man was killed by his daughter-in-law at Dowarabazar Upazila in Sunamganj on Saturday morning as the father-in-law saved the housewife from suicide. The woman attempted to commit suicide following domestic dispute.
The deceased Saifuddin, 60, of Rajanpur village of Dowahalia Union at the upazila. Police, however, arrested the daughter-in-law Sohena Begum, 22, in this connection. According to the police, Sohena, wife of victim Saifuddin’s son Shafikunnur, often used to quarrel with her father-in-law over different matters. On Saturday morning, when Sohena attempted to commit suicide by hanging herself from a tree with scarf, Soifuddin went to save her. At that time, Sohena hit him on the head with a stick, leaving him on the spot.
On information, police from Dowarabazar police station rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body was sent to hospital for autopsy. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dowarabazar police station Abul Hashem confirmed the matter.
