Man gets life term for murder

A Narayanganj court Wednesday awarded lifetime rigorous imprisonment to the convict of a murder case of Ahaihazar upazila today. Additional district judge Shah Mohammad Zakir Hasan pronounced the verdict in a crowded court room. Public prosecutor Abdur Rahim confirmed the matter to the media. The court also fined the accused Th 50,000, if default, six months more imprisonment.

The accused is Shyamol Molla, son of Abdur Rouf Molla, resident of Baroani village of Araihazar upazila. According to the prosecution story, Shyamol Molla thrashed one Anwar Hossain severely with a cricket bat on March 26, 2011 over a dispute and Anwar died on March 28. Widow Hawya Begum filed a murder case accusing lone Shyamol Molla with Araihazar police station. The court examined eleven witnesses and handed down the judgment.
