A man was beaten to death by stalkers in Kazipur Upazila of Sirajganj as he protested harassment of his daughter.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rauf Abu Sayeed, 45, was a resident of Dublai village in the upazila. Police, however, detained the suspect-- Aminul Islam-- in this connection. He was the house tutor of Abu Sayeed's daughter.
Officer-in-Charge of Kazipur Police Sation AKM Lutfar Rahman said Aminul used to harass Abu Sayeed's daughter, a first year student of Sirajganj Government College, on her way to college.
On Wednesday noon, Aminul along with some of his associates waylaid the girl while returning home from college. Being informed, Abu Sayeed rushed to the scene and protested the incident.
Being angered by this, the stalkers mercilessly beat up Aminul, leaving him critically injured. Local people rushed Abu Sayeed to Kazipur Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries around 8:30pm.
