A man killing his son and wife attempted to commit suicide on Wednesday night at Geddarbazar area under Fatulla police station in Narayanganj district.

The deceased were identified as Monoara begum, 42, a readymade garments worker and Shohag, 15, a mini hosiery worker, residents of Trishal upazila in Mymensingh district, now lived at Geddarbazar area  under Fatulla police station.

According to police, on Wednesday night Harez Mia, 45, a rickshaw puller returned his tenant house, and at a stage of altercation with his wife, he stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon. In the time of chaos between parents, their son Shohag tried to resist his father and then Harez Mia also stabbed his son and he died on the spot.

Later, Harez Mia stabbed on his own stomach with his sharp weapon. Thus, he tried to commit suicide.

Locals recovered both injured husband Harez and wife Monoara Begum, sent to Narayanganj General Hospital, where the doctor on duty referred Monoara to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment. Harez Mia is also now undergoing treatment in DMCH with a police cordon.

Officer in charge of Fatulla model police station Aslam Hossain told that the clue behind this killing yet not established but apparently assumed that Harez suspected his wife to have extra-marital affairs with other man and thus he frequently tortured his wife. Besides, their family is poverty stricken, so quarrels happened very often in the family.

A murder case is waiting to be filed after Monoara Begum’s family member come to  submit the petition and they are  now still on the  way to Fatulla police station. They are coming from Mymensingh district, OC added.
