Police have arrested a 55-year old man for allegedly raping his 8-year old granddaughter in Naoda Harishpur village of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila.
The medical examination of the child was completed at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital on Thursday (October 29) morning.
Earlier, he was arrested around 11:30 pm on Wednesday (October 28).
According to the police, the victim’s father lives in Dhaka. On October 20, the child’s mother left the girl at home and went to the nearby village of Ujalpur. That night, the man found his granddaughter alone and raped her. The child went back to the mother and informed the matter.
The mother of the raped child filed a case against her father-in-law at around 8 pm on Wednesday. The local Begumpur outpost police arrested the accused man at night.
The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman, said that the accused had admitted some of the incidents during interrogation.
