Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed has said that the labour market in Malaysia is going to open as the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers will start from August.

“The decision of returning illegal workers to the country from Malaysia has been finalized. Moreover, the recruitment of new workers will begin in August as the first step in this regard is done,” he told newsmen.

He was talking to the journalists after paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at his grave at Tungipara in Gopalganj on Saturday.

Imran Ahmed said, “We have discussed about the labour market with Malaysia. Trained female workers will be sent from now on so that they could work there without facing any difficulty.”

The minister offered a special prayer seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and his family members. Later, he signed the visitors’ book at the Bangabandhu Bhaban there.

Benazir Ahmed, MP, director general of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board Gazi Mohammad Julhas, managing director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment Service Limited Maran Kumar Chakraborty, Joint Secretaries of Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Md Fazlul Karim, Md Sarwar Alam, Zahid Hossain and Mozaffar Hossain, director general of BMET Sheikh Raifuqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Goplaganj Shahida Sultana, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC- general) Kazi Shahidul Islam, (ADC- education and ICT) Abdullah Al Baki, President of Gopalganj District Awami League Emdadul Haque Chowdhury and General Secretary Mahbub Ali Khan, Tungipara Upazila AL president Mohammad Elias Hossain, upazila chairman Md Solaiman Bishwas,  municipality mayor Sheikh Ahmed Hossain Mirza were present, among others, on the occasion.
