Mad dog bites 30 in Shailkupa

A mad dog has bitten at least 30 persons at three remote villages of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah on Friday in a day. The injured were treated at Shailkupa upazila health complex, while two of them were referred to Jhenidah Sadar hospital in a critical state in the afternoon.

Locals said a dog started biting a man at Biprabogdia village in the noon. As the villagers tried to kill him, he left the area and entered in to nearby Paikpara village where he had bitten a number of persons including women and children.

The villagers once again tried to kill the beast when he had bitten more persons at Nowapara village. Hundreds of villagers chased the dog and at last managed to kill the mad do-g in the afternoon.

Some of the injurted were identified as Jahid, 18, Saiful Islam, 19, Nuruzzaman, 15, Palash, 14, Nirmal Das, 25, Abdul Mannan, 70. Further, two of the dog bitten were referred to Jhenidah Sadar hospital in a critical state.

Sazzad Rahimi, emergency medical officer (EMO) of Shailkupa upazila health complex said they have been treating the dog bitten patients with care and sincererity and ensuring treatment for everybody.
