Local students visit Matarbari power plant

Local school students visited Matarbari coal-based thermal power plant at Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar on Friday at the invitation of foreign contracting company ‘Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company Ltd’. A total of 30 students of Matarbari High School visited the construction work.

Earlier, officials of the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company Ltd described the progress of the project at their training centre. They also provided brief about the future prospects of the thermal power project.

Md. Monirul Islam, engineer of Cole Power Generation Company Ltd, Project Manager of the contracting firm, G. Y Lei, Joint Account Manager, Engineer Al Mamun Sarker, administrative officer Rashed Ahmed Khan, headmaster of Matarbari High School, Md Reza Khan, teacher Mozammel Haque, Maulana Bashir Ahmed and Mohammad Sohel were among those who were present there.

High officials of Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company Limited said that they invited the local students to give a clear concept of thermal power project. At least 250 students of eight schools visited the project and they shared their own ideas about thermal power project, he added. Engineer Md Monirul Islam said, students were given basic knowledge about the thermal power project. They were extremely delighted to visit the project.

Matarbari high school headmaster Reza Khan said that, students did not know what was going on inside the project before. They were very happy to learn more about it, he added.
