List of Razakars soon

The Liberation War Affairs Ministry on Sunday informed the parliamentary standing committee that the list of the Razakars will be prepared soon. It was said at the sixth meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.  

Earlier the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed all the DCs’ of the country to prepare a list of Razakars (Bangladeshi collaborators of Pakistani invaders during the War of Liberation). Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee Shajahan Khan chaired the meeting. The committee members Liberation Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Rajiuddin Ahmed, Major (Retd) Rafiqul Islam, AB Tajul Islam and Kazi Firoz Rashid attended the meeting. 

The meeting also asked the ministry concerned to preserve the memorials of the war of independence and Bodhyo Bhumis (places where Pakistani invaders would kill Bangladeshi people) across the country. The meeting also recommended framing a policy in this regard. The meeting also recommended preserving the graveyards of the freedom fighters across the country at a same design as a mark of showing homage to them. A decision was taken in the meeting to form a sub-committee in order to prepare the draft National Freedom Fighter Council Act.

The meeting also asked to construct Muktijoddha Complex at a suitable place at every upazila.   The home ministry is preparing a list of razakars, who were involved in killing, arson attacks and other criminal activities against humanity during the country’s liberation war in 1971. In the meeting, overall activities of the National Freedom Fighter Council (Jatiyo Muktijoddha Council) were discussed in detail. The government will publish the list of razakars prepared by the home ministry without any change, it was informed in the meeting.
