Largest Covid hospital opens

Ensure comprehensive healthcare services for Covid patients

The recent surge of infections and deaths in the covid-19 pandemic has led us to a state of complete disarray. Containing the virus have become a stern task. Our government, however, is fighting relentlessly to curb the spread of this deadly virus.

It is encouraging to note that a full-fledged Covid-19 dedicated hospital along with various facilities has been inaugurated in the capital. The hospital has 212 ICU beds, 250-bedded high-dependency unit, and 438 Covid-19 isolation rooms, among others.

Besides, there are 50 emergency beds – 30 for male and 20 for female – patients, RT PCR lab, pathology lab, radiotherapy centres, X-ray facilities and many more facilities in the hospital.

Authorities concerned should

make sure that they run this

hospital in an efficient manner

The hospital is expected to be fully operational by April 29 and after that non-invasive ventilation services will be provided to all patients at the ICUs.

The government should make sure that this hospital is administered properly so that it does not go through the same phase which another covid dedicated hospital in Bashundhara did. Health ministry authorities should make sure that they run this hospital in an efficient manner both financially and treatment-wise.

We believe only a collaborative effort by the health authorities and the citizens will help overcome the current state of Covid-19 in the country. Authorities concerned should strictly enforce the health directives and we as general public should also follow the health guidelines.
