The laboratory to test and detect coronavirus has started functioning at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Wednesday.
Dr Naoshad Ali, Principal of Rajshahi Medical College informed, the samples of nasal swabs and sputum of three patients from Bogura and one from Rajshahi was tested at the first day in the laboratory. Testing of samples of eight patients could performed in a day and it will take eight to 12-hour to get the result.
Dr Gulnahar Begum, Head of department of Virology and Laboratory In charge of RMC informed, five technicians from Dhaka set up the Corona testing laboratory after working for five-day. She further said, training of 30 doctors and medical technologists have also been completed to run the laboratory smoothly.
Dr. Bulbul Hasan, Head of Department of Microbiology of RMC informed, the laboratory for testing infection of Coronavirus has been set up and started functioning smoothly. Departments of Microbiology and the Virology will jointly maintain the lab.
