Krishi Bank earns Tk 35.96 cr profit in Khulna region

Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) earned an ever highest profit of Tk 35.96 crore during the recently concluded 2018-19 financial year, up by Tk 29.43 crore than that of the previous fiscal, reports BSS

Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Krishi Bank in Khulna Region Shikdar Touhidul Islam said the state-owned specialized bank had made an operating profit of Tk 6.53 crore during the last 2017-18 fiscal.

At the initial stage of the fiscal, the bank management had formulated a work plan and given direction to the field level workforce for its proper implementation in order to transform the financial institution into a profit-earning and self-reliant one.

BKB in Khulna region has setup target of loans TK. 1,463 crore while disbursed Tk 929.34 crore as loans in the 2018-2019 fiscal year to help boost rural economy and generate employment through enhancing agricultural and non-agricultural production in the region.

Side by side with disbursement of loans, the Bank has also realized Tk 973.90 crore including classified and outstanding loans during the same period, officials said on Thursday.

They said Khulna Krishi bank has been functioning through two

administrative divisions since 2009-2010 fiscal years to provide better service to the farmers.

AGM) Shikder Towhidul Islam told BSS today that in Khulna administrative division the bank has set a target of Profit Tk 55 crore as loans among 69,917 farmers and earns Tk 35.96 crore rate of 65 percent through its 88 branches in the region.

Of the loans, Tk 752.88 crore has been disbursed for agro loans among 63,372 farmers, Tk 34.69 crore has been disbursed for agro-based industries among 276 people, Tk 139.07 crore disbursed for Small and Medium Entrepreneurs'(SME) among 2,252 Entrepreneurs and Tk 2.70 crore disbursed for Export-Import trade among 17 people.

“We are very much confident to attain the disbursement and recovery targets through our quality and pro-people banking services,” he said adding that the achievement in disbursement and recovery is 67 percent and 95 percent respectively by the end of July 31, 2019.

Various business fields especially software, agro-processing and IT business, agriculture, plantation, fisheries, poultry, tissue culture and leather goods have been selected for investment.
