Kings win, Abahani drop points, Brothers suffer defeat

Bashudhara Kings kept their winning spree after thrashing Chittagong Abahani Limited by 5-0 in the Bashundhara Kings Bangladesh Premier League football at the Bir Sreshtha Fl. Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium Stadium Munshiganj on Friday.

In the day’s other match, Abahani Limited shared points with Fortis FC and Rahmatganj defeated Brothers Union by 2-0. 

The result moved the Kings to eight points clear with the second placed Mohammedan Sporting Club, with eight league games left.

Bashundhara Kings, the table toppers made their tally 28 from 11 outings and Mohammedan are second position with 20 matches. 

The bitter defeat leaves Chittagong Abahani to ninth-placed, the second bottom side of the points table just eight games to play.  

However, National colour Rakib Hossain scored a brace when Dorielton, Robson Robinho, and Gafurov netted one each to down the Port City giants. 

It was ninth win for the reigning champions when they suffered one defeat and drew one match.

On the other hands, it was fifth defeat for Chittagong Abahani Limited when they could manage only two wins and drew four out of 11 matches.

Kings were gifted a second-minute lead when Dorielton charged down Chittagong Abahani keeper Ashraful Islam Rana’s clearance with the ball rebounding into the net However, Dorielton initiated the scoring in the very second minute and his Brazilian compatriot and the Kings captain Robson Robinho fired just on target and doubled the advantage just 10 minutes later (2-0).

Rakib Hossian opened his account on 19th minute when Gafurov struck on 45th to make the first half lead 3-0 for the Kings.

Despite having maximum times of possession and also wasting numerous chances the champions added only one goal in the second half against some resistance from the Chittagong outfit. Rakib Hossain notched his second on 53rd minute to make the tally 5-0 on 53rd minute.    

A 90th strike from Stewart salvaged six times champion of the Bangladesh Premier League Abahani Limited when they again dropped points to lowly Fortis FC. after 1-1 at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium.

One of the title aspirants Abahani, who have been struggling was enough lucky to have one points from the match when trailing by 0-1 had to draw on 90th minute. 

After sharing points in five matches they are now in third position with 20 points from five wins and as many draws but they remained unbeaten.   

After the goalless opening 45 minutes Hryshyn led Fortis with a stunning trike when the match was going to end with Abahani to see their first defeat, Stewart just helped the Sky-Blue to avoid the embarrassing defeat with his 90th minute strike.     

In the other day’s another match, Rahmatganj MFS blanked Brothers Union by 2-0 at the Muktijddhu Smriti Stadium, Rajshahi.

Mostafa Kharaba led Rahmatganj on mmm on 44th minute and Boetng sealed the victory on 85th minute. 

After winning match Rahmatganj lifted their position to eighth with obtaining 10 points when they won one match, drew seven matches and suffered three defeats.

Brothers Union, once of the powerhouses in the domestic soccer are still bottom side and are on great threat to be relegated when they could manage only three points from 11 matches from three draws and suffered defeat in nine matches.
