Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dr Hasan Mahmud, described the death of Syed Faisal, a Bangladeshi student in Boston, USA, as very unintended, sad and a violation of human rights. "This murder has shown the human rights violations that happen in the United States”, said the minister.

He said this in response to a question from reporters at the Kakrail Information Building auditorium in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

The Information and Broadcasting Minister said, 'I pray for the forgiveness of the soul of the Bangladeshi student who was shot by the police. However, the US government has already suspended the concerned police officer, and the investigation is ongoing. We hope that the United States law enforcement agencies responsible for this incident will be brought to justice.'

Hasan Mahmud said, 'United States is our friendly country. As in our country, we are keeping a watchful eye so that no one violates human rights. We also want that human rights should not be violated anywhere in the world.

'Fakhrul-Abbas was released because the court was independent', he said.

Regarding the release of two top leaders of BNP on bail, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that the release of Mirza Fakhrul Sahib and Mirza Abbas Sahib has proved that the legal courts of Bangladesh are independent. Because he was arrested by the government, they were freed in the legal process through a legal battle. The law courts of the country work very independently, that's why they are freed. I wish them both good health and long life. I wish that they can oppose the government while maintaining good health.'

In response to questions about BNP's nationwide mass-location program on Wednesday, January 11. Hasan said, "The government has always cooperated and will continue to cooperate if BNP or any opposition party carries out any peaceful program. But we have always seen them creating chaos and destroying people's property while talking about peaceful programmes.'

Dr Hasan Mahmud said, 'They created unrest in the country even around December 10. They set cars on fire, vandalized vehicles and destroyed the peace and security situation of the people. Even on the 11th, we will keep a watchful eye, be on the alert, our party will be on the alert so that they do not create chaos in the country in the name of political agenda. If the attempt is made, the people will resist, our party will be with the people.'

In 1971, the people of India ate less and fed the refugees of this country, Bangladesh will remember that: Information Minister

Earlier, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud had an exchange of views with 34 Indian journalists visiting Bangladesh from January 6 to 10 at the Information Building Auditorium. He said that in 1971, India not only opened its borders, but also opened the doors of the heart. They have fed the refugees who left this country without eating or eating less. As long as Bangladesh exists, the people of our country will remember it.

Ministry Secretary Humayun Kabir Khondkar and senior officials were present in the meeting.
