Flood situation in Khagrachhari hill district is improving due to recess in constant rain from Sunday morning and water level of Chengi River receded remarkably, reports BSS

People are starting to come back to their homes as level of flood water receded from low-lying areas of Khagrachhari sadar and Panchhari and Mohalchhari.

However, Merung area of Dighinala Upazila is still under water and many schools remained closed. Road communications with Longgadhu Upazila of Rangamati remained suspended.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Khagrachhari Habib Ullah said, overall flood situation is improving. Local administration is distributing rice side by side with cooked food.

District administration has opened a total of 17 shelter centers, out of which distressed people have taken shelter in eight centers. A shelter center has been opened as water of Feni river is on rise.
