However, there are still some more work which would be finished within this month. The bridge will be fully opened for vehicle movement after that.
Project Manager of the construction company Max Infrastructure Limited, Md Mehedi Hasan, said a meeting was held between the Railwan and the specialist team of BUET. It was said in the meeting that vehicles will start using the Kalurghat Bridge from next month. However, the bridge is still suitable for the movement of vehicles. There is still some unfinished work. The work of painting the bridge and installing street lights are yet to be completed.
Head of the specialist team of BUET, Professor Dr Saiful Amin of Department of Civil Engineering, said that we are observing the work of the bridge. The rest of the work will be completed. We will send the list to Bangladesh Railway according to the steps of our work. The bridge will be declared open for vehicle use right after the work is completed.
Some vehicles are using the bridge on their own after the fall of government on August 5. Some drivers are crossing the bridge at various times or when the ferry service is closed, disobeying the restriction. There were some accidents as well after some vehicles used the bridge violating the restriction.
