Kacchi dine fined for insanitary environment

The Department of Consumer Rights Protection has fined 2 lakh 50 thousand taka to a restaurant called ‘Kacchi Dine’ in Chattogram for cooking in unhygienic environment, using dyes in food and cooking with insect-eating eggplant.

 On Monday morning, the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection conducted the operation in Chawkbazar of the city.  Assistant Director Nasreen Akhtar and Rana Dev Nath led the campaign. 

Officials of the Department of Consumer Rights Protection said that two institutions were fined due to irregularities found in the raid.  The two establishments were warned to cook and serve food in a clean environment in the future.  The agency informed that the campaign will continue by stating that consumer rights are on a zero tolerance policy for any crime that harms the interests of consumers.

 In the same operation, Zaman Hotel Restaurant and Biryani House in Chawkbazar was fined Tk 20 thousand for the crime of cooking in unsanitary and unhygienic environment.

 Apart from this, Brand Avenue of Bali Arcade has been fined Tk 5 thousand for selling expired cosmetics, foreign products without importer's seal and unapproved cosmetics.
