The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have relocked all the sixteen halls of the university and sealed them off on Wednesday. No student was seen at the dormitories until Wednesday afternoon.
Prof. Motahar Hossain, Chairman of JU provost committee said when contacted, “Provosts of the respective halls have informed that they have locked the halls and there were no student inside”.
“The University administration locked the halls following government’s decision”, he added.
Earlier on February 20, some agitated students broke the locks of sixteen halls and male students got inside the halls, following a clash with the locals of Gerua village the previous day over a cricket tournament dispute. However, the authorities relocked all the eight female halls soon after those were broken and asked the students to vacate halls by Monday 10 am.
