Vice Chancellor of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari accepted the joining letter of Proctor of the university Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman as resignation paper. IU registrar SM Abdul Latif confirmed the matter on Monday morning. According to the registrar, in the joining letter, Dr Mahbub wrote that he joined the post to free the campus from drug and outsiders within seven days while he would leave his job after appointing anther Proctor for the university.

The IU VC considered the joining letter as resignation letter as another was given the charge of Proctor. So it is considered that Dr Mahbubur Rahman quit on Sunday night. Prof Dr Paresh Chandra Barman of Information and Communication Engineering department, who is also student adviser of the university, has been appointed as in charge proctor as his additional duty of student’s adviser, said SM Abdul Latif.

Dr Barman hoped to work with the assistance of all the students and stakeholders of the university. The university authorities have been forced to change its proctor as a group of the university unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League demonstrated in this regard. The protesters called off the demonstration after the Proctor resigned from his post. The protestors had raised many complaints against him.
