The famous Joboi Beel in Shapahar of Naogaon is abuzz with the chirping of migratory birds now. Hundreds of birds from far-flung Russia, Siberia and other cold countries have come to the Beel to add to its natural beauty. This was seen in the early morning in the Beel area, that various species of guest birds like Piyang Hash, Pati Sarali, Lengja Hash, Bali Hash, Pani Kut along with native verities of Shamukkhol, Pankouri, Channi Hash have filled up the Beel area with their cheerful presence.

Already many bird lovers are rushing to the area to see the beauty of the birds. If enough arrangements are made for the visitors then the Joboi Beel could become a tourist center in the area in future. The upazila administration sources informed, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder who is also the parliament member of the area has already taken initiative to make the Joboi Beel of Sapahar upazila a tourist attraction.

Earlier people used to hunt these birds without any obstacle and sell them to local markets.
However, the vigilance and rigorous surveillance of Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the members of the biodiversity conservation committee have stopped any bird hunting in the area.

For several years, some well-meaning young men in the area created an organization called the Beel Biodiversity Conservation and Social Welfare Organization, and took initiative to stop all types of bird hunting, including guest birds in the area. As a result, the Beel is now full of thousands of migratory birds.
