When the cold hit distressed people were suffering badly due to fall of mercury-temperature, the district police in Jhenidah distributed blankets among the sufferers on Tuesday at the office premises. District police office sources said they distributed about 100 pieces of blankets among the cold hit people.
Some of the distressed persons who received the blankets, said they were very pleased and happy receiving the costly blankets which was beyond their imagination for the people like them.
Each and every poor people should be provided with a piece of blanket by the authority and well to do people to remove their sufferings from the cold bite.
Superintendent of police Mohammad Hasanuzzaman when contacted said the deputy commissioner of Jhenidah Saroj Kumar Nath was accompanying him during the blanket distribution for the haveless people to stand by themselves in the natural calamities like severe cold.
