Jashore farmers expect bumper mango output

Mango growers of Chougaccha are expecting a bumper production of mango this year.  Already all the trees of the district have been sprouted with huge flowers.  It is learnt, unions including Jogdishpur, Patibila, Narayanpur, Swarupdaha, Sukhpukuria nd Chougachha are famous for quality mango production in Jashore district. Though it was cultivated only at the court-yards of the houses in the district, now mango is cultivated commercially here. 

After covering local demands, the mango produced in Chougaccha are being supplied to Dhaka and other districts of the country. During the ripening of mango, traders from various places of the country rushed to Chowgachha to purchase mango and procure mango by moving to the mango orchards.

According to Upazila Agriculture Office sources, mango has been cultivated on 850 hectares of land this year in Chougachha upazila of which Himsagar variety of mango has been cultivated on 340 hectares, Nangra variety in 95 hectares, Amrapali on 38o hectares and local varieties of mango on 35 hectares of land.

Raisuddin, UAO of Choiwgachha informed, mango cultivation is turning popular day to day in the upazila. Many farmers have become self reliant by cultivating mango. The quantity of land for mango cultivation has been doubled during last three year. UAO officials and employees were assisting mango farmers by advising them on smooth growth of the fruit.
