Ishwardi town roads need repair

Communication system in Ishwardi town has come to almost a standstill due to dilapidated condition of roads. Lack of road repair for long has caused the road carpeting to recede very fast.

During a recent visit, this correspondent found that the road from Railgate traffic intersection to Alhajj intersection and Chand Ali intersection via Thakur Bari intersection of Ishwardi upazila in Pabna is in bad state with developing potholes and ditches to turn the roads into even narrower for vehicles and users.

At the rainy season, people of this area are the worst sufferers as rainwater filled big ditches. As a result, accidents are happening often here. Traffic jam is a daily phenomenon in front of Sonali Bank at 2 no. gate Bazar area.

On Thursday, after visiting this area correspondent found that, from Alhajj Traffic mor to railgate, Station road, Fokirer bot tola to Saw mill mor via Eidgah-Ambagan, Chand Ali mor to Diabetic Hospital, to Dorinaricha including 7-8 roads are in worst position.

Shahidul islam, a CNG driver said at any time a severe accident may occur as this dialapted conditions of these roads. According to Municipal development book the length of total road is 132.38 km in this municipality. Among this Bitumin  made road length is 74.76km, CC road legth is 3.75km, WBM road length is 2.07km. Soil and constructed roads length is 18.50km.

Abdul Awal, Executive Engineer of this municipality claim that major roads of the municipality has already been repaired for plying vehicles. Rest other will be renovated soon.
