A fire broke out at the Borak Electronics factory making refrigerator stabilizers and IPS in the Balmantachar area of Dhaka's Nawabganj upazila.
The accident happened around 2:00 am on Saturday night. The victims claimed that the goods worth 15 lakh were damaged. Eyewitnesses said that they started screaming for help on Saturday when a fire broke out at the IPS factory. In a few moments the fire spread around the factory. Locals reported the incident to the police and fire service. Later, the Dohar Fire Service team and local residents brought the fire under control in a joint effort. By that time all the goods, including the factory equipment, were burnt.
Factory owner Monirul Islam Anu said, ‘All the goods, including stabilizers, IPS, cables and machines made by his factory were destroyed in the fire. It cost me 10 lakh taka. And this business was my only source of income.’
Doha fire service firefighter Golzar Hossain said, ‘The fire started from electric short circuit’. ASI Joynal Abedin of Nawabganj Police Station, who visited the accident site, said that same thing as well.
