The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) issued red alert against six absconding Bangladeshis who are involved in international human trafficking.

Assistant Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Mir Sohel Rana confirmed the matter to Bangladesh Post on Monday.

We made the move after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) made a request in this regard, he added.

The absconding human traffickers were identified as Shahadat Hossain, Nazrul Islam Molla, Ekbal Jafor, Tanzirul, Minto Mia and Shawpan.

All of them have been charged with fraud by alluring people with promise of suitable jobs, illegal confinement and killing upon demanding ransom, the police officer further said.

As per order from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed, the elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and other operational units are conducting drives to arrest the accused.

Twenty six Bangladeshis were killed on May 28 in what the Libyan authorities said was a revenge attack by relatives of a human trafficker who was killed during an altercation with the migrants.

After the gruesome killing of innocent Bangladeshi citizens in Libya, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered to start drives against human traffickers across the country.
