Humayun for more investment in SME sector

 Industries Minister Advocate Nural Majid Manmud Humayun today inaugurated the SME fair on Narsingdi Shilpakala academy premises to promote local products for boosting economic growths, reports BSS.

“We need more investment for expansion of small and medium enterprise (SME) sector across the country,” he told at the inaugural function of the fair here.

The minister termed the SME sector as labour-intensive and said promotion of the SME sector could be the effective means of alleviating poverty and generating employment opportunity to accelerate economic growth.

He said SME is very important for reducing the existing gap between the people living in the rural and urban areas.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of the district Syeda Farhana Kawnine the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by Chairman Narsingdi Zilla Parishad Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, Mayor of Narsingdi Pourashava Kamruzzaman Kamrul, President, Chamber of Commerce and industries Narsingdi Ali Hossain Shehir.

On the first day, the fair drew a huge attention of a large number of visitors.

Local companies including Jad Roo group, RFL plastic cookeries, Home Textile, Bandan handicrafts, Regant Family fabrics, Dargaband Mohila Multipurpose Cooperative Association, JMT International Door and Rong Toli Nakshi Kanta Enterprise have set up stalls for displaying their products.
