How disputes are created in underworld

Published : 12 Oct 2019 09:08 PM | Updated : 07 Sep 2020 11:50 AM

The disputes between fugitive top terror Jisan and arrested expelled Jubo League leaders had originated centering commissions earned from tender manipulations.

According to sources, Jisan, against whom Interpol issued red alert few years ago, had demanded Tk 142 crore from three controversial Jubo League leaders GK Shamim, Khaled Mahmood Bhuyian and Ismail Hossain Samrat, as his commissions from various construction works across the country.

There were several meetings between them to solve the disputes in Singapore, Dubai and Malaysia after the disputes surfaced in February this year.

When the meetings failed to reach a compromise, Jisan threatened to kill GK Shamim, Samrat and Khaled. They also gave counter threats to Jisan.

Sources claimed that GK Shamim, Samrat and Khaled in association with some police officers started ‘disturbing’ the armed cadres of Jisan who were active in the capital Dhaka. Some armed cadres of Jisan were arrested with illegal arms and later were killed during reported gunfights with police personnel.

At one stage, many of Jisan top cadres changed their group and joined the group of Samrat and Khaled, the rival group of Jisan.

Jisan circulated posters against his rivals. Khaled and Samrat also circulated counter posters against Jisan across the country.

Thus Jisan was cornered by his rival group led by Samrat. GK Shamim also went under the shelter of Samrat and Khaled, giving up his long standing relation with Jisan.

However, he was secretly sending money to Jisan to protect his own life from Jisan. He also enhanced his security by appointing seven armed gunmen as his body guards.

At that stage, Jisan finally decided to kill the trio to establish his supremacy in the underworld of the country.  But another sources claimed that even during the ongoing disputes, GK Shamim was keeping secret relations with Jisan. He proposed Jisan to kill Samrat and Khaled on the notion that if they were killed, the old relations between him and Jisan would be restored.

GK Shamim also told Jisan that in absence of Samrat and Khaled, GK Shamim and Jisan would take full control of tender manipulation and earn huge money. He also informed Jisan that if he can kill Samrat and Khaled, his pending commissions would be paid. However, unverified sources said GK Shamim gave major portion of the commissions to Samrat and Khaled, which was supposed to be paid to Jisan.  Sources said the construction company GK Builders was once owned by the top terror Jisan himself.  After Jisan escaped from Bangladesh, another terror known as TNT Nadim took over Jisan’s illegal business.

When Nadim also left the country, GK Shamim eventually took the ownership of the company. Khaled, Jishan, Nadim and GK Shamim were directly involved in many Jubo Dal illegal activities during the BNP-Jamaat alliance rule.

GK Builders was awarded most of the mega-construction works during the rule of the BNP government.  After Awami League (AL) came to power, they wasted no time and quickly joined the youth wing of the ruling AL.

Using the influence of the government, GK Builders began to earn huge amounts of money dominating the tender looting business. They have achieved almost everything what they desired exercising their power. It was difficult for their competitors to even drop tender documents. Samrat and Khaled interfered in almost every business proposals and forced them to withdraw the tenders.

Thus, Samrat and Khaled earned large amounts of money from Shamim and his close associates.

Jisan is one of the top 20 terrorists of the country declared by the Ministry of Home Affairs. A prize was announced for his capture.

The name of Jisan came to the light after killing of two DB police officers in a Malibag hotel On May 14, 2003.
