A housewife was allegedly killed by her husband and his family members on Thursday night. Police recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. The deceased was identified as Tania Khatun, 22, wife of Asadul Islam of Alamdanga village under Phulahari union at Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah. Her husband and his father went on hiding immediately after the incident.
Manwar Hossain of Brahimpur village of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah said her daughter Tania was married to tea stall owner Asadul Islam, son of Monjel Ali, about five years back. A three-year girl child is surviving with them.
The family members of Asadul used to torture Tania. Asadul along with his family members killed Tania on Thursday night and hanged her body with a ceiling in the house. Later, Asadul over a telephone informed Tania’s father that Tania had committed suicide. Since then his phone was switched off. Sub-Inspector of Shailkupa police station Amit Kumar Das said that they are investigating the matter.
