A house wife was burnt alive at Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah. Two others sustained burn injuries during the time. The deceased was identified as Tuktuki Khatun, 25, wife of Swapan Joarder of Nakoil village in Shailkupa upazila.
Fire service and civil defense (FSCD) station officer in Jhenidh Dilip Kumar and locals said Tuktuki was cooking at her kitchen in the noon of Tuesday. An electric wire went excessive heat and got fire. She was caught in the fire anyway and succumbs to her injuries on the spot.
Injured two were Tuktuki’s mother Shewly Khatun and Uncle Chaner Uddin. They were rushed to Jhenidah Sadar hospital. Two houses along with the belongings for an amount of Taka 1.5 lakh was gutted in the fire.
Having information they arrived the spot about 15 kilometres form the district headquarter within half an hour and brought the fire under control. The fire was originated from th short circuit of electricity, FSCD official said.
