Historic 7th March celebrated in Rangpur

The historic March 7 was celebrated with huge enthusiasm in Rangpur on Tuesday with paying rich homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with a renewed pledge for building a developed Sonar Bangla.

 The divisional, district and police administrations, other government departments, Awami League and its associate bodies and many other organisations and institutions chalked out daylong programs marking the day.

 The District Shilpokola Academy, Rangpur City Corporation and different educational institutions separately organized programs and competitions for children and distributed prizes among winners of the competitions marking the day. The programs included competitions for children and students on drawing, poem recitation, easy writing and delivering of Bangabandhu's Historic March 7 Speech by children, quiz competitions, doa mehfils, discussion, prize distribution and cultural functions.

 The celebrations began with hoisting of national flag followed by placing of wreaths at the portrait and mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square followed by the daylong programs.

 Divisional Commissioner Md. Sabirul, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nure Alam Mina, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and District Council Chairman and former Rangpur district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad heroic freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu placed wreaths at Bangabandhu's mural in the city.

 The district administration organized the main discussion at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium with the Deputy Commissioner in the chair.

 The Divisional Commissioner, DIG, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, District Council Chairman, heroic freedom fighters, academics, intellectuals and civil society members addressed the discussion.

 After hoisting national and party flags and placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at their respective offices in the morning, leaders of district and city units of AL and its associate bodies brought out rallies and placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu.

 Patriotic songs were rendered and the epoch-making historic March 7 speech delivered by Bangabandhu on this day at the then Race Course Maidan in 1971 was played across the city and all eight upazilas headquarters and important places.

 District AL organised a discussion at its office with its Convener Chhayadat Hossain Bakul in the chair while its Joint Convener Mazed Ali Babul moderated the event.

 Senior Awami league leaders Motahar Hossain Mondal Mowla, Jashem Bin Hossain Jummon, Rosy Rahman, Latifa Shawkat, Mortuza Mansur, Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, among others, addressed.

 Similarly, Convener of City Awami League Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain presided over another discussion moderated by its Joint Convener Md. Abul Kashem at city AL office marking the historic day.

 The speakers termed the epoch-making March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as the clear declaration of independence and all-time best speech that would continue to inspire the nation from generations to generations everlastingly.
