Hiru Master: A neglected hero of Liberation War

AOM Nurul Alam alias Hiru Master, a front-liner freedom fighter and hero of Bangladesh War of Liberation, is now neglected and forlorn.

During the hard-time and period of adversity of the Awami League, Hiru Master boldly held the helm of the party. It is unbelievable, he was so devoted to his party and the party leadership that he did not refrain from participating to party activities even after serving jail 32-times. Hiru Master was the founder President of Durgapur upazila Awami League.

He was also holding the post of Secretary of Freedom Movement Affairs of Rajshahi district AL and a former teacher of a Primary School.  He was tortured, harassed and was subjected to discrimination in various ways at his job, society and in the party but he did not abandon the party.

While working as district secretary of Freedom Movement Affairs, he regularly attended the programmes, meetings and seminars organised by the party. He played a vital role to unite the Freedom Fighters. Even at this nonagenarian period of his life, he is still with his strong force of mind like that of a young Hiru.

An ideal worker of Bangabandhu, Hiru Master is a protesting-voice to take revenge  on the killers of Bangabandhu. He still thinks about strengthening the party activities and is very devoted leader for the party.  But, it was very upsetting that at the proposed full committee of Rajshahi district Awami League, name of Hiru Master has been dropped this year.

Recently, former General Secretary of district AL Asaduzzmaan Asad went to meet with Hiru Master. While talking to him, Hiru Master expressed his grief and said, hybrid party leaders have dishevelled the neat and orderly party like that of AL.

Some businessmen and non-political persons are poised to plunge the party into the dark abyss. By rejecting devoted Awami Leaguers, identified BNP and Jamaat leaders have been incepted in the party. Sacrificing, devoted and tested party leaders are being waning and missing from the party gradually.

He said, he felt pain by watching the stale condition and the destruction of the party. Daughter of Bangabandhu had ordered and organised the party by bearing utter trouble and hardship where devoted, sacrificing leaders of the party were  included but now, the organisation is operated by the opportunists, money-hankers and vested interest groups.

Consoling Hiru Master, Asaduzzaman said, there is a far difference of situations of the time of Liberation War and the present time. he said, he had been with the leadership of Sheikh Hasina as a workers and would continue to stay with her. The Prime Minister has been fighting alone for the party, the country and the countrymen and her devoted workers are always with her and continue to stay beside her forever.
