Heavy rainfall likely in Ctg, Barishal: Light to moderate rain in other parts

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Barishal and Chattogram divisions today (Monday).

“Due to active monsoon over Bangladesh heavy (44-88 mm) to very heavy (89 mm) rainfall is likely to occur at places over Barishal and Chattogram divisions during next 24 hrs commencing10:00 am today ( 07 July 2019)”, says a BMD bulletin.

“Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chattogram division”, it added.

Meanwhile, most parts of the country is likely to experience light to moderate rain, reports BSS.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at some places in the country”, says a met office bulletin.

“Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay”, it added.

The met office also predicted that the rainfall activity may continue for next 72 hours.

However, the day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country.

The highest temperature on Saturday was recorded 34.2 degrees Celsius in Sylhet and Sunday’s minimum temperature is 20.0 degrees Celsius at Maijdee Court in Chattogram division.

The sun sets at 6:50 pm on Sunday and rises at 5:17 am today (Monday) in the capital.
