The High Court (HC) Sunday issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain as to why it shall not pass order to install air conditioners (ACs) in courtrooms across the country. A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order and asked law secretary, power secretary, finance secretary and public works secretary to reply the rule within four weeks, reports BSS.

The court came up with the order after holding hearing on a writ filed on April 11 as public interest litigation (PIL). Senior jurist ZI Khan Panna and petitioner Advocate Mokched Ali took part in hearing for the writ on Sunday. The petitioner in his plea said the lawyers and justice seekers suffer a lot in intense heat during the summer time and the trial proceedings also get hampered. “If ACs can be installed in all the courtrooms, all the people concerned can work undisturbed and it is a part of the modernization of judiciary also,” he added.
