HC acquits all convicts in Kishoreganj murder case

The High Court (HC) on Tuesday acquitted all people, convicted in a case lodged over murder of one Wayej Uddin alias Fotik in Kishoreganj in October, 2008.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Krishna Debnath and Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam passed the order after holding hearing on jail appeals and death reference in the case.

Kishoreganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court on June 29, 2014 had sentenced one Sharif to death and five others– Jamil, Soleman, Nur Mohammad, Sadek and Alamgir– to life imprisonment in the case.

According to the case documents, Fotik, from Chanpur village under Kotiadi upazila in Kishoreganj, was abducted on October 1, 2008 and his headless body was recovered on October 8.

After the incident, Fotik’s borther Moin Uddin filed the case with Kotiadi Police Station.
