Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a local reputed non-government organization, started providing Ifter and dinner to 300 fasting people every day since the beginning of the holy Ramadan.
The activity would be conducted under the crore programme of the organization as part of the social corporate responsibility (CSR), said Sayem Rishat, Director of GUK said in Gaibandha on Monday.
Chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad and President of Bangladesh Awami League, district unit, Abu Bakr Siddique inaugurated the activity on Thursday as chief guest and Mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Matlubour Rahman was present at the event as special guest while chief executive of the GUK Abdus Salam moderated it.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests thanked the GUK for starting such activity for the poor and distressed people of the district. Political leaders of different party including Bangladesh Awami League joined the inaugural session.
The ifter and dinner would be provided to 300 fasting persons including orphan children, distressed people from Masterpara office of the town, the Director said.
A special arrangement has also been kept for the persons with disabilities and the aged old people, he added.
Chief executive of the GUK Abdus Salam sought wholehearted cooperation of all to make the activity a grand success during the month of holy Ramadan.
