Govt working to build smart cities, villages to implement Vision 2041

In continuation of the successful implementation of Digital Bangladesh Vision 2022, the government is now working to build a smart Bangladesh of innovative and knowledge-based economy by 2041 with state-of-the-art power grid, green economy, skill development, recognition of freelancing professions and urban development. A high-level workshop titled 'Vision 2041: Building Smart City and Smart Village in Bangladesh' was organized on Monday at the BCC Auditorium of ICT Tower in Agargaon, capital Dhaka, with the aim of creating a new business environment for the country and exploring opportunities to provide leadership in innovative technology.

Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperative Ministry Mr Md. Tajul Islam, was present as the chief guest in the workshop. Minister of Education Dipu Moni as a special guest. Minister of Science and Technology, Architect Yafes Osman; Minister of Post and Telecommunication Department Mustafa Jabbar and Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Md Atiqul Islam were present.

The workshop was presided over by Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam was present as moderator in the workshop. Project Director (Joint Secretary) of A2I gave a welcome speech at the workshop. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice Chancellor Professor Satya Prasad Majumdar and Bangladesh Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Lutful Hasan and other experts from related sectors participated. At the beginning of the workshop, Mr. Mohammad Ariful Islam, Country Head of Nokia in Bangladesh, and Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor of ATU, gave two separate presentations on various cutting-edge technologies developed by Nokia Bell Labs for building smart cities and smart villages and the opportunities and possibilities of implementing smart cities and smart villages in Bangladesh. .

Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry Md Tajul Islam said, we have to work on many issues to ensure a normal life for the people living in the city. The ICT department has already started working on many issues to provide people friendly services. Local government and ICT department can jointly do public welfare work in future to meet the expectations of common people. For the implementation of Smart City, the master plan for the area should be prepared taking into account the population living in the designated area.

Minister of the Ministry of Education called for a change of mindset in building Smart Bangladesh. Dipu Moni, MP, said, we need to create a clear canvas of who has the opportunity to work where and coordinate the work of everyone. We want to create people who are science minded, technology friendly, used to using technology and skilled in technology innovation. Those who need to be humane and creative.
