We appreciate the government’s time befitting measures to empower women across the country. The support which the government is giving to our women in order to make them self-reliant is commendable, to say the least.

It is good to note that the government has recently allocated a fund of Taka 346.55 crore for implementation of the second phase of ‘Samannita Palli Karmasangsthan Sahayata Prakalpa’ to increase participation of rural women in income-generating activities.

Necessary measures should be taken to safeguard

women’s digital access and make a favourable

business environment for them

Experts opine that, if this programme is executed it will be possible to raise the per capita annual income of the women beneficiaries. Every woman will get training and loan of Taka 10,000 on an average by June 2025. This project is being expanded in such a way so that women can take decision for making them self-reliant economically.

However, when it comes to women entrepreneurship in rural areas, they still face multi-faceted problems. Therefore, the government should continue providing numerous types of training to the women entrepreneurs across the country. There is a significant gap between urban and rural women when it comes to opportunities in the e-commerce sector.

In this modern-day and age our country’s women are playing a vital role to have a sustainable economic development through e-commerce. As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the private sectors and civil society should work together for safeguarding women’s digital access and make a favourable business environment for them to shine.
