The government is considering alternatives to the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) assessments in case the examinations cannot be taken due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The authorities concerned also think of holding exams on a brief syllabus.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni made the remarks after a meeting at the National Press Club in the city on Sunday.

She said, “We are trying to take the SSC and HSC exams in a short syllabus. We will find a way out if it does not happen. We are working on that.”

She further said that there was a plan to open the educational institutions on June 13. But, the closure has been extended till June 30 due to the surge in Covid-19 in the border areas and other parts of the country. The situation is being monitored cautiously. However, the online education will go on. Students are encouraged to continue their study, she added.

The minister also urged the students not to worry about the exams.

She said, “Students should finish the syllabus by studying regularly at home.”
