Govt distributes Tk 2.78cr among flood-hit people

The government has so far distributed over Taka 2.78 crore in cash among the flood-hit victims as over 54.51lakh people have been affected by the recent devastating deluge, reports BSS.

“The government has so far handed over Taka 2, 78,000,00 out of allocated Taka 4,27,000,00 in cash among the flood affected people till August 10,” according to a data provided by the district administrations.

In addition, the government has also allocated 19,510 tonnes of rice, from which, 11,750 tonnes have been distributed among the flood affected people in 33 districts.

Moreover, Taka 91.13 lakh out of allocated Taka 1.54 crore has been provided for purchasing baby food while more than Taka 1.78 crore out Taka 3.30 crore has been distributed for procuring cattle feed.

“A total of 1, 37,336 packets of dry food have been distributed among the flood-hit people across the country,” the data showed.

The government also allocated 400-bundle corrugated iron sheet and Taka nine lakh as household grant.

The data also said over 9.74 lakh families were marooned and 54, 51,586 people have been affected by deluge while 1,057 unions and 160 upazilas were flooded. Due to this situation, around 71,594 people have taken refuge at 1,479 shelter centers in the flood-hit districts.
