Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Monday said the government is considering introduction of ‘Shikkha TV’ to broadcast the lectures of the teachers of reputed educational institutions in television. She revealed this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat here after attending a session of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference on the Education Ministry. Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel was present, reports BSS.

Earlier, on the second day of the conference, the DCs today suggested taking measurers to hold special classes in the schools located in the country’s marginal areas and hiring guest teachers from reputed educational institutions. “We told the DCs during the meeting that we could broadcast the lectures of teachers of reputed institutions through television in a cheaper cost and reach those to these schools located in remote areas,” Dipu Moni said.

That is why the government is considering introduction of an education TV (Shikkha TV), she said, adding if the TV is launched, the teachers of rural schools will also get benefited as they could be learnt new teaching methods. The education minister said the DCs were asked to create public awareness against sexual harassment of students in their respective districts.

She said students must be built with moral and human values from primary level so that they could become good citizens and human-being as well. During the meeting, Dipu Moni said they discussed sealing off coaching centres, stopping notebooks and guidebooks business and infrastructural development in educational institutions.
