Former Sylhet AL president dies

ANM Shafiqul Haque, former president and general secretary of Sylhet district Awami League and a Jatiya Parishad member, has died of old age complications. He breathed his last at Al-Haraimain Hospital in Sylhet city at about 3:30 pm on Wednesday.  He was 74. He left behind his wife, three daughters, two sons and a host of relatives.

Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, president of Sylhet city Awami League and former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, said that the body of ANM Shafiqul Haque will be taken at Central Shaheed Minar in Sylhet at 12:30 pm. His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the mosque of Shahjalal ® shine and second Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at his village home at Moulvigaon village under Doulatpur union at Bishwanath upazila. Later, he will be buried at the village home. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the veteran leader. In a condolence message, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
