The government’s all-round initiative in the fiscal sector led to the rapid growth of the country’s economy over the last three years. One of the significant reasons for our economic boost is the rise in export items in agricultural and dry food items even amidst the pandemic.

Local agricultural product exporters made a shipment of goods worth US$824.59 million during July-April period of FY21. In FY20, the volume of shipment of the agricultural items was worth $755.8 million, says an Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data. During the pandemic, the agricultural items importing countries' dependence on dry food, other agricultural products, and other related stuff has increased as well.

Now in order to make it sustainable, the quality of agricultural products must be maintained and our government will now take a more holistic approach to achieve that target. More export sources of our vegetables, fruits and dry foods need to be found for that.

However, there are certain obstacles and problems to the export of agricultural products and the government needs to make sure that they will be identified and solved.

We have to make sure that the farmers are able to produce products on a uniform scale and excellence. Bulk production is another crucial necessity, which under the existing system of our farming production cannot be safeguarded.

Government and other private sectors should assist these farmers by providing them with apt information, suitable technology, and inputs to achieve better crop yields. Our goal should be to build sustainable business resolutions for farmers, while safeguarding safe food for consumers.
