At least five shops were gutted in a fire in Charprasannadi area on Tekerhat-Gohala road in Raghdi union under Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj district in the early hours of Friday.
The fire originated from a shop of Shahidul Alam Mintu in Charprasannadi area around 1 am and soon engulfed the adjacent business establishments. As a result of the fire, five shops were completely gutted, said Shaukat Hossain, in-charge of Sindiaghat police outpost.
Being informed, two units of Fire Service and Civil Defense rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of locals and affected businessmen after two hours of efforts, Sohrab Hossain, Team Leader of Khalia Fire Service of Rajoir upazila said.
"The extent of damage could be known after the investigation," he added.
