A student of class five was killed after her scarf got stuck with the wheel of a battery-run autorickshaw in Atpara upazila of Netrokona on Wednesday. The incident took place in the Shalpa Sunui area of Atpara upazila at around 8pm in the night on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Jharna Akter, 10, daughter of Nuruzzaman Miah of Demura village in Barhatta upazila. The locals said that Jharna Akter was returning home from Netrokona with her grandmother. On the way, her scarf inadvertently got stuck with the wheel of the moving auto-rickshaw. She was rushed to Atpara Upazila Health Complex after being seriously injured.
The on duty doctor declared her dead.
OC Zafar Iqbal of Atpara Police Station said a case of unnatural death has been registered in this regard.
