Female passenger killed as two buses collided in Dhamrai

A female passenger was killed and 30 others injured as two speedy buses collided at the east side of Kalampur bus stand near Dhamrai under Dhaka-Aricha highway on Sunday morning (22 November).

The victim was identified as Kobita wife of Bikash Sarker of Garail village under Kushura union of Dhamrai. She had been working as a labourer of a factory at Tulivita area under Dhamrai. 

Injured passengers have been admitted to Dhamrai Health Complex and other hospitals. Condition of the two injured is stated to be critical. 

According to police and local people, an Aricha bound bus Saudia Paribahan from  Cox's Bazaar( Chattogram-metro-Ba-11-1078) collided with a Dhaka bound bus Dealing Paribahan at the east side of Kalampur bus stand at Dhamrai beside Dhaka-Aricha high way. As a result, the bus of Dealing Paribahan damaged badly and the Saudia Paribahan bus turned turtle beside the road killing Kabita Sarker, a female labourer, on the spot. Other 30 passengers of both buses were also injured. Later, Fire Service Personnel rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to various hospitals. 

Injured passengers Mujahidul Islam and Moksedul Islam informed, the accident occurred as a result of drowsiness of the driver of Saudia Paribahan bus. The bus also escaped accident several times on the road due to the driver's unawareness and even after requests from passengers, the bus driver continues to run the bus with drowsiness.

Sreebus, Sub-Inspector of Golra High Way police informed, two buses have been seized and the dead body of the victim has been shifted to her family members. Injured passengers have been admitted to various local hospitals.
