FBCCI to continue support for growth

With a vow to keep optimum contribution to upholding the continued economic growth of the country, the newly-elected executive committee of the country’s apex trade body has taken over the charges.
The newly elected Board of Directors of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) took over the charge formally at a ceremony at the Federation Bhaban at Matijheel in Dhaka on Sunday.
The new leaders of the FBCCI also expressed commitment to extend all-out cooperation to the government in formulating time befitting business policy so that the major issues like economy, commerce and industrialization as well as ease of doing business, bringing down the rate of interest of bank loans can be effectively addressed.
President of the newly elected body, Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Senior Vice President Md. Muntakim Ashraf and six other vice presidents along with the directors have taken over the charges for the term 2019-2021.
According to the FBCCI Election Rules, president of the organization, this year has been elected from the Chamber Group. Sheikh Fazle Fahim representing Gopalgonj Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been elected the president of the body.

Accordingly Md. Muntakim Ashraf who is representing Bangladesh Cold Storage Association has been elected senior vice president. Six more vice presidents were elected from both chamber and association groups.

Sheikh F Fahim is the 24th president of FBCCI, the apex trade body of Bangladesh.
New vice presidents of FBCCI are Hasina Newaz, representative of Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Chuadanga Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Md. Rejaul Karim Rejnu, CIP, Jamalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mir Nizam Uddin, Bangladesh Electrical Association, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, BGMEA and Nizamuddin Rajesh, Bangladesh Secondary Quality Tinplate Importers and Merchants Association.
Addressing the ceremony, outgoing president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin expressed his high hope that the newly elected body will be able to meet the demands of the new generation businessmen and the economy of the country.
"The ongoing economic growth of the country is private sector led growth, I hope that the new body will take the growth much forward. We do not want to stuck in the 176th position in terms of ease of doing business, rather we have to improve a lot, the new board has the capacity to do it, and they will also be effectively engaged with the government to foster business, formulating world class standard business policy and ensure smooth implementation of them", Mohiuddin added.
Taking over charge as the 24th President of the Federation, Sheikh Fazle Fahim said his board will work jointly with the business community of the country and will keep its best effort to maintain continuation of the ongoing economic growth.
"FBCCI, as the apex trade body, will contribute effectively in rebuilding the economy of the country keeping pace with the ever growing economic growth of the country", Fahim added.
