Farmer’s dream shattered

The farmers lead their lives producing crops on their land round the year. But the dream of a farmer of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah was shattered some village men had cut off the growing onion flower seeds during the night. The ill-fated farmer will lose the crop for an amount of approximate Taka one lakh said Amirul Islam of Sadhuhati village in Shailkupa.

Farmer Amirul Islam said he was producing seeds from the onion flower on eight decimals of land in the village. He was expecting the seeds for Taka about one lakh in the season. But some unknown miscreants during the night of Saturday had fell down the flowers. It has broke the financial backbone of the farmer, he said. Sub assistant agriculture officer of the department of agriculture extension in Hakimpur union said Amirul was playing role in producing onion seeds in the locality. He was affected badly. Shailkupa police station officer in charge Bazlur Rahman when contacted said he would take legal steps when he will receive any written complaint.
