Fakhrul joins as TSS new MD

Engineer Fakhrul Haider Chowdhury joined as the new Managing Director of state-owned Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) Ltd on July 01, official said.

Earlier, he was Chief General Manager of state-owned Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL). 

Fakhrul joined the service at Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) as Assistant Divisional Engineer under Telecom Cadre on January, 1991. 

He was born in Razapur at Lakshmipur Sadar on March 01, 1962. His father, late Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, was a freedom fighter organizer.  

He completed graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) in 1988, and later he received MBA degree. 

Fakhrul is also President of DUET Alumni Association-DUETAA, Vice President at Lakshmipur Zila Samity. He was president of Bangladesh Chhatra League in DUET and was also founder member of Bangabondhu Prokawsoly Parishad. 

TSS was initially established in the year 1967 with the nomenclature of “Telephone Industries Corporation” under a joint venture agreement between the then Government of Pakistan and M/S Siemens AG, West Germany. After the independence, Telephone Industries Corporation has been incorporated as a limited company with its present name Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) Ltd. under the Companies Act, 1913, and under a fresh agreement with the other part of the joint venture M/S Siemens AG, West Germany in the year 1973.

TSS is being produced laptop, telephone set, battery and charger, digital meter and some others telecom products. Its main vision is to reduce the import dependency in Telecommunication sector by replication of diversified work and to make TSS as an Electronic zone by producing different types of Telecom and all electronic items.
